Upgraded x4

Well it's high time I gave an update on the upgrade of the 2,000 page, 100 user site that I mentioned last time. And while I'm at it I might as well throw in a few other upgrades that I've done since then.

Bottom line, the upgrade went great. Much better than I expected actually (which is saying a lot). The combination of TV, web users, FCKeditor, plugins, inherit bindings and placeholders have enabled us to do so much more than we have in the past with absolutely no hacking!

And what about the other sites? Well a couple of days ago I upgraded three sites to MODx 0.9.1 in less than a couple of hours (I think most of that time was spent doing backups). Of course, all three of these sites were much smaller that 2,000 pages and weren't hacked to high heaven, but still.

So what's ahead for bryan.edu? Well, we're working on a new template right now (which we need desparately). We just got our first webcam up. I hope to soon create an auto keyword linking module, a log that highlights changes in the HTML, and a plugin that will resize images to fit the visible height and width (for all of those wonderfull people who upload stright 3 megapixel photos). And who knows what else the future has in store. One thing is for sure, now that we're running on MODx the possibilites are endless.

I'm very very interested as well in knowing what calendar plugin you are using. I need to do a church site and I'm trying to decide on a CMS, and a calendar is one of the necessary features.

We ALL need that PLUGIN! by kickass 24-Mar-06 12:29 PM

I can't tell you how many "My website is broke!" panic emails I've gotten over this very issue- I have NEVER been able to figure out why "maximum width of 480 pixels and save it as .jpg" is SO hard to understand!
