With so many great updates and bugfixes (see the changelog.txt file in the install folder), it's time to start getting broader testing with our next release. The manager template is new, but is not final by any means. There are still some bugs I'm sure will get fixed for the next release, and the default content and installer will be getting a minor facelift as well, but for the most part we're in a feature freeze for the release. There are some cool new capabilities including:

  • ability to have link attributes (think target="_blank" or onclick=""...)
  • categories for resources in the manager
  • a bulk document manager to make updates to many documents at once a breeze
  • Ajax search / Live Search that works out of the box without configuration
  • more robust default snippets including Ditto, Wayfinder and eForm

I've added a "0.9.5 beta/rc" project to the bugtracker for reports during this hopefully brief beta period. Go and get it now and give us feedback ASAP.

MODx is a framework that allows web professionals to turn over sites to end-users for daily maintenance without worrying. Community participation and questions are encouraged, especially when you help us help you, read the wiki, and review snippet parameters – even if you have to look at the source. Searching the forums helps, too.

I've been working with this for some time now, and the upgrade is very smooth. In fact, I even have one site where I accidentally ran the upgrade script on its database, but I still haven't gotten around to uploading the new files. Site works just fine with the 0.9.5 database structure and 0.9.2.1 files.

I've updated a site and get the following error. I am currently uploading the files again and will report back.

Code:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/emanz/public_html/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php on line 1112

I have no answer to that but I think you'd have more chance of getting an answer on the bug report thread Wink :

Just to clarify for everyone:

Support thread for discussing bugs and issues with this beta:
http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,7065.0.html

Bug tracker:
http://modxcms.com/bugs/

If you are confident that you have found a bug that has not already been reported, and you can describe how to repeat the issue, please do put it in the bugtracker. (You may need to sign up for an account).

If you are not sure, you can use the support thread. Other users may then add bugs to the tracker once they have been fully identified.

Finally, if you have an issue with a snippet or module or plugin whilst using MODx 0.9.5 Beta that does not seem directly related to the new release, you can post in the appropriate thread or forum. If you are doing so, please do still say in your post which version of MODx you are using.

Thank you.

Just installed on the development version of my own site (live shortly) - very straightforward. Had a little hassle with HTML appearing in body text but sorted it out by changing affected TV's to raw textarea after reading the support thread.

Going to try out the Jot snippet next on the blog I'm developing and then put the firstchildredirect to work on my nav structure.

Well done all: MODx just keeps getting better.

@olafmol: New documentation is not yet in place, but our wiki is up and getting filled fast, have a look at http://wiki.modxcms.com and most probably the new documentation will appear in the wiki.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words! Smiley

best wishes and regards.
