This was actually an unexpected release, but MODx 0.9.2 is here and available on our new Releases page (which we will be improving and enhancing very soon).

It is recommended that all users upgrade their sites to MODx 0.9.2 for security purposes, but only after thoroughly testing the upgrade process and result.  This is a security and bug fix release, though it does include quite a few new features as well.  However, it does not include all the latest versions of the snippets; so please don't overwrite any snippets you may have upgraded during the upgrade process, if you didn't rename them (which should be standard practice for most of you familiar with MODx upgrades).  There may be some issues with QuickEdit on some sites as well, but all of these issues, plus a whole lot more, will be addressed in the next few of weeks, as the 0.9.5 release is finalized.

To download the 0.9.2 release, visit http://modxcms.com/releases.html

The spirit of a warrior is not geared to indulging and complaining, nor is it geared to winning or losing. The spirit of the warrior is geared only to struggle, and every struggle is a warrior's last battle on earth. Thus the outcome matters very little to him. In his last battle on earth a warrior lets his spirit flow free and clear. And as he wages his battle, knowing that his intent is impeccable, a warrior laughs and laughs.

Please post any comments regarding this release in the known-issues thread. You may need to update some language files per the links contained in those threads.

if you didn't rename them (which should be standard practice for most of you familiar with MODx upgrades).

Can you explain what you mean by renaming the snippets as a standard practice ?

I never renamed all of the snippets but when I upgraded they are all still in tact do you mean the title of the snippet or something in the database tables

is it really recommended to rename every snippet ? how about the mods and plugins ?

I thought the snippet name is set in the snippet file so it has to match no ?

If you modify a snippet in any way, upgrades may overwrite your changes. Therefore, best practices dictate that you modify the name of core snippets if you modify the code. Otherwise, leave them as is.

After some feedback from several users having trouble with weblinks in version 0.9.2, released yesterday, I was able to track down and resolve the issue.  So, without further ado, the 0.9.2.1 patch level release of MODx 0.9.2 is now available from the downloads page.

I have also included a patch version for those who just upgraded to 0.9.2 and don't feel like downloading the whole package again.  To apply this patch to 0.9.2 installations, you simply need to extract the patch archive contents over the existing files in your installation.

All are available from the download page at http://modxcms.com/download.html

BTW, if you just downloaded the package, make sure you got the full download and not a partial size package that was unexpectedly available from the download page while I was uploading it.  Check you package size against the one on the download page currently.

Cheers

Check your manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php file against the one in the patch package or visually verify the diffs from http://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/rethrash/tattoo/changeset/1004.  If it appears the fix has been applied by the patch appropriately and this is still not working, post back.  Also, might make sure you clear your cache (i.e. refresh the site) just make sure nothing bad got cached.

Probably a dumb question, but can somebody give more details on what the upgrade process is? Do I blow away my current install and then copy back in anything from my assets folder? Or can I simply leave my old assets folder there and just replace the other files?

Thanks!

a dumb question perhaps and one that was asked by me several times he he,

upgrade instructions:

use the new version directory but remember to replace items like config, inc, templates images, snippets, etc from your older version
then the when you point to yoursite.com/install/ click upgrade and it will upgrade to the current version

basically any new things you added to any of your files you would move to the new directory, also if you edited any of chunks, snippets, etc good to renamem them so they don't get overwritten with the default

for the most part its config.inc, templates, and any snippets, mods, plugins you added or edited

From the FAQ: What's the best way to install or upgrade MODx between versions? anselm1109, one of our great community members documented the process on his blog.

On a side note to MODx site webmaster (zi?), that link to anselms blog needs to be updated. Or better yet, update this page with the notes from anselms blog entry.
