I want to install MODx on HostMonster manually without using their SimpleScripts.
I've tried every possible combination.  I've searched the MODx forums.  I've searched the Wiki. I found a couple postings, but nothing that indicates what I enter in for the Database Host name.

Any ideas?

Database host:  localhost
Database login name:  how2adm
Database password:   password

Database host:  host116         (server name)
Database login name:  how2adm
Database password:   password

Database host:   74.220.207.XXX   (server IP)
Database login name:  how2adm
Database password:   password

Database host:  databaseName
Database login name:  how2adm
Database password:   password

all of the above result in "Connection to host: failed!"
Note - I did create the database and the user ID and password on my host via the Control panel.  I viewed the DB via PHPMyAdmin.

Dear Scotte68,

I have used Host Monster for a couple of years with satisfaction.  I'm a newbie at MODx.  I am prototyping a new site using MODx Evolution 1.0.2 on a Windows XP Pro-64 system running the WAMPserver 2.0 stack.  All works well locally.

Eventually I plan to move this MODx site to Host Monster.  Your post raises a flag for me: WHY did you want to install manually on Host Monster rather than use Host Monster's SimpleScripts MODx installation?  And how has that worked out for you?  Are there any Host-Monster-specific issues I should understand?

Thanks!
