Its due for launch this friday, can you good people take a look and give me any feedback - it seems to run slow at work but fine at home so feedback on speed would be great.

Tried to make it clean, structured ,simple kind of look.

many thanks

Good job Simon, looking good!

OK, now for the niggles...

I'm not so sure about the flash slides....one, they don't load immediately or fast enough, causing the page to "jump" - you probably don't want that to happen and certainly not every time one navigates to a different page. Secondly, they seem to scroll when the mouse hover position. After a while it becomes distracting and a bit dizzying. How about the images slide after some preset time? In addition, what jQuery etc load the images faster? Just thinking of options.

Speed was not bad...

Overall, nice!

cheers/k

thanks for the feedback, I agee about the flash the scrolling was intentional but people are complaining about making them dizzy, the scrolling is my way of coping with image of different sizes and orientation (landscape, portrait etc)  I think I will change the scrolling so its activated by clicking rather than rollover. I can't find any jquery scripts that do the same as the flash movie does, if you find anything let me know.

I don't see the jump, I'm using firefox and IE6.I have specified a height on the <div> where the flash movie goes to avoid the jump - need to look into that. I'm behind a proxy so its prob cached everything.

thanks for the input, really helpful.

Hmm, if all the flash is doing is the slide show...then there's a couple of jQuery plugins for that. Here's a handful of them...

I noticed the jump seems to be on pages not yet cached by my browser. I checked in FF3. Look at the screenshots below. It seems then that the <div> height is being ignored?

ps: sorry...should have optimised the image sizes before uploading...will do so in a minute..

hhhmmm yea I agree that jump from your screenshots looks really bad.

Good examples of jquery but on all of them that I can see the images are the same dimensions, mine vary in width. And I can't see a demo that shows half the image off visible area and half on, they are all either all on or all off the stage area (if that makes sense?).

Time to take a look at the height property to stop the jumping.

Thanks for your time, again really helpful for me.

I just added a new style and applied the class to the container div around my flash movie.

Code:
.flashheight {height:378px;}

Now just get rid of the annoying zoom effect and your done! Smiley Honestly after 2 or three images we get the idea (about teh zooming) and I find it well eh,... more than a bit distracting. It doesn't do the (architectual) work justice .

Nice site! Very interesting as I am working on my own architecture site.

I agree with Tony. I would use the zoom effect just once on the intro page. After that it really does not add much impact.

You mean the zooming effect on this page http://www.prpdev.com/home-page.html

or the left to right movement on all the other pages.

I like just that little bit of movement otherwise it looks flat.

I did do this version in flash I prefer it makes the image look more dynamic and it builds up a bit like a building being constructed, dam those architects

I like colors, grid and general concept, but flash driven stripe returns to left-most position without clear reason for me (it's a bug i think, it does so sometimes only).
Also saturation shift for active slide is too slight imo. And it's blue label seems to be too small (comparing to size of colorful background).
Maybe it should appear somewhere closer to bottom of the slide?
Now it's little unclear whether those pictures are just illustrations, or clickable links.
Russian (and Chinese) breadcrumb looks a bit odd, with "home page" in english, but on other hand it indicates that there is no "russian home page". Am I right?
But overall - I like it very much.

yes you are right, the architects that I work for are a weird lot, its design by committee with about 10 people, they choose the labels. I'm working on removing the flash, but the movie does return to the left when you mouse out.
