I'm eagerly awaiting the flood of people who want to join me in #modx at freenode.

Every project that gets a good IRC channel ends up succeeding.  It's that instant gratification factor Smiley

We were up to 8 participats today.  I think it's 7 right now.  Amazing.  Thanks guys.  I imagine it getting up to the humdreds in a short while.  Some good information in there.  Smiley  Just get a good IRC client, like GAIM, connect to irc.freenode, then /join #modx

Hopefully you are going to post that information at the forums where everyone can see it?

I have enough trouble getting the time to be on the forums, I don't want to have time searching multiple places to find an answer.

Thought this was already discussed under http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,1249.0.html

Although I have nothing against IRC, it worries me that solutions will be lost or spread out over a variety of mediums making it more difficult for new users.

I can totally understand this. I love chat-rooms in a geeky perspective. I use it more as a chance to get to know the community more rather than share knowledge.

Goto Tools > Accounts.

Choose IRC.

Enter screen name whatever you choose.

Server: irc.freenode.net

hit SAVE, and login

A window will open, type: /join #modx and hit enter

(It took me almost an hour... dumb me, but honestly I never used IRC before)

If you are on the Windows platform, try using Trillian, it makes connecting to any IRC a breeze (at least I got into #modx at Freenode first try)...
