If you haven't done so yet, got grab the latest release at version 0.9.6.1. It fixes a tremendous amount of issues, cleans up a lot of code and makes MODx better in general. If you're running 095 or earlier, you should definitely upgrade ASAP. http://modxcms.com/downloads.html

In addition to our recent 0961 release, there is a tremendous amount in store for 2008. I think Packt Publishing got it right when they named us Most Promising Open Source CMS recently, and I don't think we'll disappoint in this category. The new code base that's been discussed for over a year is almost ready for an "official" public preview. Despite it being referred to as 0.9.7 to date, the 0.0.1 increment belies a complete ground-up rewrite that brings significant new capabilities and even more flexibility. 2008 should also bring increasing transparency for the project and broad feedback requests earlier in the process from all the developers in the community, on "the team" or not.

And finally, we've done a little bit of reorganization around the forums, adding some new topics and sub-forums to better fit the flow of information we've seen from our users:
  • Release Support offers support thread for issues that are specific to particular versions. Current sub-forums include 0961, 096 and 095 and earlier.
  • Found under our Core Code topic, MODx Next provides ongoing discussions of what's coming with future MODx releases. Currently there's some interesting threads from individuals that have downloaded the 097 development/alpha version from our subversion repository.
  • General Support topic contains a topic dedicated to E-Commerce, E-Marketing, Analytics & SEO. If you're looking for strategic information on these areas, start here.
  • Also under General Support, Hosting Experiences should be your central source to share hosting experiences. We plan to provide a consolidated list of known "great out of the box" hosting providers next year, so please share your stories to help us lead people to hosting sources that provide killer MODx support.
And personally, I'd like to thank everyone in the community for making MODx such a great project with which to be associated.

MODx is a framework that allows web professionals to turn over sites to end-users for daily maintenance without worrying. Community participation and questions are encouraged, especially when you help us help you, read the wiki, and review snippet parameters – even if you have to look at the source. Searching the forums helps, too.
