Just a week after our RC2 release, RC3 is ready for testing. We've augmented a few key areas and anticipate a quick release of the final 096 build.

Since we last released RC2, the following have found their way into the code base:
  • Multiple bugfixes (aren't there always?)
  • Added a new manager config to control the visibility of protected pages in the manager. This now makes it possible to lock parent containers from being edited while enabling Content Editors to work on child-docs (previously non-editable docs were invisible in the manager, including child-docs requiring workarounds with unpublished folders).
  • Better handling of manager sessions during upgrades.
  • Better handling of detection and calculation of base_paths during installs/upgrades.
  • URLs generated by MODx with ampersands in them can now be made XHTML compatible (& -> & amp;).
  • Added German, Spanish and Finnish translations for 096.
  • Added events to the Manager associated with the "trashcan functions": onEmptyTrash and onBeforeEmptyTrash. This enables plugins to be written to better handle cascading deletes like with commenting systems such as Jot.
  • Make OnManagerLoginFormPrerender selectable as a plugin event in Manager

This release brings a few minor additions to the main manager language file for the new manager configurations. If you would like to see your native language supported in the initial 0.9.6 release, please help update your translations, otherwise the current completed translations will be the only ones distributed with the 096 official release.

Features should now be locked down. The remaining work should primarily consist of adjustments to the installer to better automatically determine the character set for existing databases on upgrades, and a few other minor installer tweaks. For now, run the advanced upgrade and manually select the proper collation and encoding after reviewing those values in MySQL.

For full details of the significant changes and updates, please see the changelog.txt file located in the root install folder.

Searching the forums helps, too.
